About

Why does this exist?

This is a curated record of what happens when humans decide that one rule which applies to all of life doesn't apply to them. Noble attempts, delusional experiments and everything in between.

Why immortality?

I've been interested in immortality for a very long time, it's been a core focus of humanity since we've been around, I think of it as a very worthwhile goal.

How entries are chosen

Did this person attempt or claim they could beat death? They're included. I also add just a few mythological stories here and there because they contribute in some way to the same idea. Whether or not these people were successful is irrelevant.

Why archive failure?

Because nobody has won, that alone makes the 'hunt' worth documenting. Every single era, continent and group have contributed in exploring death, all with the same result.

How do you use AI?

I strictly use AI for the creation of this website as I'm uneducated in HTML and CSS. I use AI for SEO checks and for headers, but for writing the bulk of each entry, I never use AI.

Will this archive ever end?

The archive will end when immortality is obtained but even then, these stories don't stop mattering. Five thousand years of failure doesn't become irrelevant just because someone got lucky.
